The King will deliver the opening speech at the summit in his capacity as president of the 28th Arab Summit that was hosted by Jordan in March 2017.

"Bahrain always appreciates your courageous stances in its support, and in rejection and condemnation of external interference that affects the internal affairs of our country, and which we are working on repelling and defeating", HM the King added. They were received by Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, governor of Eastern Region; Prince Ahmed bin Fahad bin Salman, deputy governor, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, secretary general of the Arab League, and a number of officials.

Arab leaders-minus Syrian President Bashar al-Assad-meet in Saudi Arabia for a summit on Sunday as world powers face off over Syria and tensions rise between Riyadh and Tehran.

In a ministerial meeting that was held on Thursday, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir said that Palestine and the situation there will top discussions at the Arab summit.

"We reiterate our rejection of the United States decision on Jerusalem", said the king, adding that "East Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territories".

On Saturday, the umbrella Arab League said the summit will not discuss Gulf crisis, which was triggered by last year's cut-off of diplomatic ties between four Arab states and Qatar amid accusations for Doha of supporting terrorism.
