Sen. Charles Schumer warns Trump not to fire Robert Mueller

President Donald Trump walks on the South Lawn as he leaves the White House in Washington Friday Jan. 5 2018 enroute to Camp David Md. for the congressional Republican leadership retreat

The U.S. attorney's office had no comment. In his opening statement, he also apologized for his company's involvement in facilitating fake news and Russian interference in the elections. A warrant requires high-level approval within the Justice Department, and agency guidelines impose additional hurdles when the search target is an attorney. Besides Cohen's office, agents also searched a hotel room where he's been staying while his home is under renovation.

Cohen's comments to CNN were his first since an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on his office and home Monday.

A connection between those two groups could be hugely significant, suggesting that data made its way from the Trump campaign's political consultants to Russian security services in order to target susceptible voters.

Cohen says the Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were "extremely professional, courteous and respectful". John Thune of South Dakota said Zuckerberg's company had a 14-year history of apologizing for "ill-advised decisions" related to user privacy. He is maintaining his innocence.

The letter demanded they preserve all emails by Cohen that mention Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, as well as any emails and text messages related to the alleged relationship.

The White House has denied there was a sexual relationship.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, CNN reported that Trump is now weighing firing Rosenstein amid reports that he signed off on a warrant targeting Trump's longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.

Both women say they were paid to keep quiet about having had sex with Trump.

"This is a serious matter, and I think people expect us to take action", Cornyn told reporters after his speech. "We'll see what happens".

"The (Justice Department) regulations could not be more clear; the President does not have the authority to remove special counsel Mueller". Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, that "I'm not the type of person who thinks that all regulation is bad".

Facebook has talked to special prosecutor Robert Mueller, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Tuesday during a hearing on Capitol Hill.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said on Tuesday that Trump "certainly believes he has the power" to fire Mueller, who under the special counsel regulations can be removed only by the attorney general, or in this case Rosenstein.

The raid was not part of Mueller's investigation, but took place after Mueller's office reportedly made a referral to prosecutors in NY. Trump told McGahn to tell Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general and Mueller's superior, that the time for Mueller to go had come.

Trump tried to fire Mueller again in December
The president also reportedly considered firing Rosenstein last summer around the same time that he considered firing Mueller. A person familiar with the conversations says a top congressional Republican advised the White House not to fire Rosenstein.

"Our work with the special counsel is confidential", Zuckerberg said.

"Nothing! I can't believe it".

Still, at least one Republican said he wants action on legislation to protect Mueller and head off a move by the White House.

Q: Does Trump believe he has the power to fire Robert Mueller as special counsel?

Republicans, too, agreed that any attempt by the president to end the Russian Federation investigation by terminating Mueller would have dire consequences for his presidency. He said the company needs to take a "more proactive role" that includes ensuring the tools it creates are used in "good and healthy" ways.

A spokeswoman for Trump was unequivocal when asked whether he is allowed to fire Mueller.

Trump is fuming after federal agents raised his personal attorney's office in NY.

But this was the second time Trump tried to get Mueller fired.

Legal experts did not mince words when discussing the enormity of the Cohen raids.

"The attorney general made a very bad mistake when he did this".

Pres. Trump called the raid a "disgraceful situation" and "a total witch hunt".

"That amounts to an attack on our country?".

The raid infuriated the president, who said publicly it was a "disgrace" that the Federal Bureau of Investigation "broke into" his lawyer's office.
