Park In-bee Wins Her First LPGA Title in a Year

Laura Davies tees off during the final round of the Founders Cup.

With AP Photos.Inbee Park spoiled Laura Davies' bid to become the oldest victor in LPGA Tour history, pulling away from the 54-year-old Englishwoman in the Founders Cup.

Park and Davies made an event all about honoring the tour's past while investing in its future something to savor in the moment. She won feeling no lingering effects from her injury.

They were all five shots behind victor Inbee Park of South Korea. "I love how she plays". She took a one-stroke lead into the final round at 14-under, thanks to a blistering third round of 63 that included seven birdies and an eagle.

"It's about as nervous as I've ever felt", Davies said. "I almost shanked it". She chipped in for eagle on 15, but bogeyed the 18th to fall into the tie for second.

"It calmed me down, and I really enjoyed the day", Davies said.

Davies, three strokes behind Park entering the round after the World Golf Hall of Famers shot matching 63s on Saturday, bogeyed the last for a 69 to finish five strokes back in a tie for second with Ariya Jutanugarn and Marina Alex.

"Just solid golf", Davies said.

Davies, who has not won since the 2001 Wegmans LPGA, is attempting to become the oldest player to win on the LPGA Tour. I mean, just like my dream come true. "It was nice, I suppose, to have that". "My short game is really coming around and a day like this tells me that we are really doing the right things".

Stephen Hawking's final legacy: Research paper revealed how to detect multiverse
The paper also predicts that the ultimate fate of our universe is to fade into blackness as all its stars run out of energy. Professor Neil Turok, the director of Canada's Perimeter Institute, was confused why Hawking found the theory appealing.

She also relished showing certain fans something.

"Now people might stop asking me when I'm going to retire - that's the best thing about it".

Davies missed a chance to shatter the LPGA Tour's age record set by Beth Daniel in the 2003 Canadian Women's Open at 46 years, eight months, 29 days.

Half of her can't stand watching someone else win. She was trying to win for the fifth time in Phoenix after taking the Moon Valley event from 1994-97. "This week definitely proved me I can win and contend and play some pain-free golf".

She then parred her next 10 holes as Davies pulled to within one stroke. She made four birdies in a row starting at the 12th and won by five shots. She was clinging to a one-shot lead at one point, but the birdie barrage gave her much-needed breathing room.

Park, a seven-time major champion, birdied four straight holes on the back nine and finished with a 19-under par total of 269. I just don't feel like - I'm not burned out.

Yet again, Park showed her ability to win after long breaks.

"I'm really happy to have a win early in the season", Park said. She's like my idol and I had some much fun.

Alex closed with a 68 for the best finish of her career.
