Raonic to face del Potro

Roger Federer of Switzerland returns a shot to Hyeon Chung of Korea during their BNP Paribas Open match at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer increased his winning run in 2018 to 17 by beating Borna Ćorić of Croatia in the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Masters in California.

Raonic has won two of their three head-to-head meetings including a straight sets win in the Delray Beach Open semi-finals a year ago.

He ll be up against the eighth-ranked player in the world in Argentina s Del Potro, who beat German Philipp Kohlschreiber 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the day s other quarter-final.

After coming back from a set down in his previous two matches, Del Potro needed no such heroics as he dispatched Raonic with the minimum of fuss 6-2 6-3 to rack up a 400th career win.

Raonic had right hip surgery in 2011, right foot surgery in 2015 and left wrist surgery previous year.

"After Wimbledon I had to have wrist surgery".

It is 18-6 to Federer in past match-ups between the pair, and Del Potro has only won one of their six clashes since October 2013.

Mauritius President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim resigns following Financial Scandal
The president's lawyer Yousuf Mohamed told local Radio Plus that she had chose to resign "to prevent a constitutional crisis". In 2017 he received permission to open an investment bank in Mauritius, prompting allegations of favouritism on his behalf.

"Well, a lot of things were very good. So he just needs a couple of weeks to improve his ranking and be where he deserves to be".

Del Potro, who won a title earlier this month in Acapulco, Mexico, fended off a stern challenge from Kohlschreiber.

"It wasn't an easy match as everybody saw", Del Potro said. "I was waiting for my chance to find my game and I did after the first set".

"He is a very smart guy, his game is so good and he made me run a lot so my legs are completely exhausted", the 29-year-old Del Potro said in a courtside interview. I play more aggressive with my two-handed backhands, and I play more down the line.

'I am just happy that I am injury free and playing as well as I am. "Those 10 minutes when I was down a set and a break it was hard for me to accept. I have too much love from the crowd, for my fans, and I'm doing this because I love it". The Canadian failed to earn the quick points on his serve, instead getting stuck in baseline rallies with the powerful del Potro. In the victory, Del Potro won 89 percent of his first serve points and 62 percent of his second serve points.

"All my body feels tight", he said. "But after that my body will have a few days to recover and I will need it".
