Agent RB Jerick McKinnon to leave Vikings for 49ers

49ers to Extend $30.5M Deal to Former Vikings Running Back McKinnon

Shurmur is obviously acutely aware of what McKinnon is capable of, after spending the last season as the Vikings' offensive coordinator.

Minnesota Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon (21) runs the ball against Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Corey Graham (24) during the second quarter in the NFC Championship game at Lincoln Financial Field.

"I want to be the guy".

NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reported Wednesday running back Jerick McKinnon will sign a four-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers worth $30 million.

After Dalvin Cook went down with a torn ACL in Week 4, McKinnon became part of one of the best running back tandems in the league alongside Latavius Murray.

Theranos chief executive Elizabeth Holmes charged with massive fraud
The deals between Holmes and Theranos are still subject for approval by the court, and neither part has admitted any wrongdoing. Former president Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani was also charged .

A year ago as a Viking, McKinnon turned 201 touches into 991 total yards and 5 scores. He's never panned out as a full-time runner, but McKinnon showed how dynamic he could be in the right situation a year ago. He should be taking his agent out to a very nice dinner once this deal is signed.

The San Franciso 49ers looked prepared to replace Carlos Hyde in free agency with one of the better options on the market. The 49ers are understandably trying to surround him with more talent.

McKinnon figures to be the top option to start, barring a move in the 2018 NFL Draft, and can be a risky cog in coach Kyle Shanahan's offense.

A former third-round NFL Draft pick by the Vikings back in 2013, McKinnon, 25, has yet to even come close to eclipsing over 1,000 yards in a season.

The 49ers did not waste much time finding their next running back.
