Mega Millions, Powerball jackpots for Tuesday and Wednesday total $738 million

Powerball lottery jackpots sometimes range into the hundreds of millions of dollars with the largest ever topping out at $1.6 billion US

The unidentified woman signed her ticket after the January 6 drawing, but later learned from a lawyer that she could have shielded her identity by writing the name of a trust.

The victor of a US$560 million Powerball jackpot - one of the largest prizes in United States history - can remain anonymous, a New Hampshire judge ruled on Monday.

Billy Shaheen, a lawyer for the New Hampshire victor, who was described in court papers only as Jane Doe, said that his client was elated to hear the news.

Judge Charles Temple had to consider the state's Right To Know law and the woman's right to "live her life normally".

Steven M. Gordon, a lawyer for Doe, said Monday in a phone interview that his client welcomed the ruling.

This option was detailed on the lottery's website but not on the tickets and New Hampshire's lottery rules require the winner's name, town and the winning amount to be public.

Judge Charles Temple is presiding over the bid by New Hampshire lotto victor "Jane Doe" to preserve her anonymity in Hillsborough Superior Court.

Even while he had stepped aside, Nunes upset Democrats by continuing to issue subpoenas for documents and witnesses. It also contradicts the preliminary findings of committee Democrats like ranking member Adam B.

The judge dismissed the state's argument that disclosing her name would show the public that the lottery system is above board.

"The Court therefore has no difficulty finding that [the woman] would also be subject to similar solicitation and harassment if her identity were disclosed", Temple wrote.

Attorneys for Doe last week collected the winnings on behalf of her Good Karma Family 2018 Nominee Trust.

"We remind players to always play responsibly, regardless of jackpot levels", said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. The first thing he did was give a total of about $249,000 to a couple of nonprofits - Girls Inc. and three chapters of End 68 Hours of Hunger - and said the woman plans to give away as much as $50 million in the future. The state Attorney General's Office said the woman's name must be revealed because she signed the back of the ticket, USA Today reported.

The woman, who is fighting to remain anonymous through an ongoing lawsuit, is collecting a lump-sum cash prize of $352 million - which will get whittled down to $264 million after taxes.

Lawyer William Shaheen said Monday the woman is from Merrimack, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of Concord (KAHN'-kard).
