Man tries to stop hit and run with a sledgehammer

Despite the man’s attempt to flee police say he was ultimately found and taken into custody

Police confirmed Sunday afternoon that there was a hit-and run crash on Northeast 36th Street and Biscayne Boulevard in Miami.

Two people then approached the driver, shouting and banging on the window.

Police said Lagutenko appeared to be under the influence of drugs when he was stopped.

A insane scene unfolded in Miami on Sunday when a driver tried to leave the scene of a vehicle accident.

In the video, the driver in a wrecked silver Infiniti SUV, tries to reverse from the scene of the crash. The cause of the crash is now unknown.

Even though the SUV was damaged in the crash, its driver put the auto in reverse and began moving away from the scene. He attempts to flee the scene of the crash several times but each attempt is blocked by witnesses in the area. "(Don't move!"). The man stood near the wheels of the vehicle and the driver then proceeded to accelerate.

Bride arrested for DUI en route to wedding
She was handcuffed and put into the back of a police auto at 10.30am yesterday in Marana, Arizona, 30 miles north of Tuscon. The bride was pictured being put into the back of a police auto while in her wedding dress after being pulled over.

It was at that point that people gathered around again, with some trying to pry open the vehicle doors, with one man screaming "Don't move", while others snapped pictures of the Infiniti's license plate. The police said the man was found and taken into custody.

Police say they do not encourage drivers to try and stop someone from leaving the scene of a crash.

The images show several people running after the Infiniti - trying to box it in.

"That's insane. You know, you have a crash, you stop", witness Anthony Jimenez said. "You have a crash, you stop".

But he took exception to the sledgehammer rampage, adding: 'I would call the cops and try to chase him down, but to pull out a hammer?'
