Indian Wells: Federer, Serena wins; Djokovic loses

Roger Federer

Federer wrapped up a 6-3, 7-6 (6) triumph over Delbonis with a flourish soaring for an artistic high-backhand volley to charge into the BNP Paribas Open third round.

"It's been a long time since I have been interrupted at night and have to come back the next day", Federer said.

The two-hour-plus match delayed the start of the evening session on centre court, where top seed Federer finally made his first appearance in the event, up against 67th-ranked Argentine Federico Delbonis. After another 90-minute delay organisers suspended play for the night.

The 34-old, who has seven career titles, pounded down 12 aces, including six in the deciding set. He denied a set point while serving down 2-5 in the opener and immediately broke the former World No. 1 in the next game, firing a backhand victor down the line and a forehand pass off a poor smash.

Roger Federer may only be in the third round here at Indian Wells but speculating whether or not he can win the title is of course too temping to resist. He won the final three points to take the match by forcing Delbonis to dump all three of those shots into the net.

Bhambri will face either 18th seed Sam Querrey or Mischa Zverev next.

Djokovic was beaten 6-7, 6-4, 1-6 by world No109, Taro Daniel, who had made the main draw as a qualifier. The final score was 7-6, 4-6, 6-1.

House Intel concludes Russian Federation probe interviews
Even while he had stepped aside, Nunes upset Democrats by continuing to issue subpoenas for documents and witnesses. It also contradicts the preliminary findings of committee Democrats like ranking member Adam B.

The win extended his 2018 win streak to 13 matches. "Very weird. I mean, I just completely lost rhythm, everything".

"Just struggled also a bit with the health the last couple of weeks".

Djokovic bowed out to South Korean Chung Hyeon in the fourth round of the 2018 Australian Open.

However, 25-year-old Daniel dominated the third and final set to take it 6-1.

Novak Djokovic's return ended with more questions than answers at Indian Wells Sunday.

"To me, it's not that surprising. So talking about faster, I just think there is more bounce to it, especially if you play someone who has a lot of spin like he has and kicks the ball around a lot".

"It is still early stages for Novak coming back and the first one after surgery".
