Governor Invites Trump To Visit California's Central Valley

President Trump will travel to the "Sanctuary State" of California Tuesday; visiting the U.S. border with Mexico and inspecting various prototypes of his proposed wall while meeting with law enforcement officials in San Diego and Los Angeles. And, it comes amid escalating vitriol aimed at California from the Trump administration, which last week filed a lawsuit in federal district court claiming the state's sanctuary protections preempted federal immigration law.

"After you've examined your wall prototypes on the border, I invite you to head north to the Central Valley - the heart of California. Here in cities like Fresno and Madera more than a dozen bridges are being built for the nation's first and only High-Speed Rail line", Brown wrote.

A spokesperson for the White House did not answer questions about whether the president would accept the invitation. The group has been active in protesting Trump's policies. "It's not wise, it's not right, and it will not stand", Brown said.

But, it's a strategy that isn't likely to end soon, said Jack Pitney, a politics professor at Claremont McKenna College.

According to Trump, Peña Nieto said: "Mr. President, I would like you to make a statement that Mexico will not pay for the wall", to which Trump replied: "Are you insane?"

Bengals Trading For OL Cordy Glenn
The Bengals will also acquire a fifth-round pick from Buffalo and send a sixth-round pick to the Bills as part of the exchange. An ankle injury also hampered his availability during the 2016 season, when he missed five games.

"Well Mr. President, in California we are trying to fix that".

On Monday, Brown wrote a letter talking about previous presidents who have visited the Golden State.

Vargas also had a message: Trump "is not welcome here". His first presidential visit to the nation's largest state comes almost 14-months after he took office.

Brown noted that President Harry Truman used his first trip to California in 1945 to witness the signing of the charter establishing the United Nations in San Francisco, while President Lyndon Johnson met with the president of Mexico during his first presidential visit to California in 1964.

"And yet we get no help from the state of California".
