Ben Affleck & Matt Damon To Add Inclusion Rider In Their Future Projects

Matt Damon And Ben Affleck To Add Inclusion Riders On Pearl Street Projects

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the latest stars to follow Frances McDormand's advice on "inclusion riders".

On Monday, Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni-the head of strategic outreach at Pearl Street Films, Damon and Affleck's production company-tweeted at Jordan, saying that the company would be following in his footsteps and adopting the rider as well.

Black Panther actor Michael B Jordan was one of the first few celebrities to announce that he supports inclusion riders after McDormand's historic speech.

Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni also thanked Michael B. Jordan for pledging to adopt the documentlast week. The actress left the room abuzz, while viewers at home frantically began Googling the phrase-which refers to a contractual stipulation that stars can include in their contracts, assuring that their film sets are inclusive both on and off screen.

However, Rashford insists he is learning more on the training ground from his boss than on the pitch on matchday. He came in for a big game and did the business, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's back on the bench.

Google searches for "inclusion rider" spiked in the wake of McDormand's speech and there were thousands of tweets mentioning the term in the 20 minutes after her speech concluded.

If you haven't yet read our explainer from the day after the Oscars about what an inclusion rider is, here's the cliff notes.

"There has always been available, to everybody that does a negotiation on a film, an inclusion rider, which means that you can ask for and/or demand at least 50 percent diversity in not only the casting but also the crew", McDormand explained to reporters on March 4. But the concept, attributed to Stacy Smith, founder of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative at the University of Southern California, is that contracts stipulate movies feature actors that represent the demographics of their settings, and that crew members behind the scenes come from diverse backgrounds.
