Apple Adds 'Central Park,' its First Animated Show to the Programming Slate

Central Park

This latest addition will be Apple's first animated show with an order from the creator of Bob's Burgers. CENTRAL PARK will be written by Bouchard, Broadway/TV favorite Josh Gad, and Nora Smith. The animated show follows a group of caretakers who live and work in Central Park, New York. They have already given a two-season order to a drama series starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, set in the world of morning show television, and a straight-to-series order for Steven Spielberg and Bryan Fuller's reimagining of Amazing Stories. Bouchard and Gad will executive produce and Smith serves as a consulting producer. The series is called Central Park, and is co-written by Josh Gad and Nora Smith in addition to Bouchard, and it follows a group of caretakers who live and work in the titular location in NY. Perhaps Apple made a more generous offer or For's TV studio wants to put its content on more distribution platforms.

Variety notes that this is a unique move for 20th Century Fox to sell one of its animated series as it has held on to most of its popular content like The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad!
