Buhari to meet APC governors in Daura

President Muhammadu Buhari has departed Abuja for his home town, Daura in Katsina State on a private visit, sources say.

The source disclosed that the president is very anxious about the rising tones of Nigerians asking him not to contest for 2019 presidential election and would want to ask the governors not to allow the reconciliation process of the party on the hands of Tinubu alone but to contribute to enable the party have a soft landing during the 2019 elections.

Last Saturday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu announced that Buhari lost two members of his extended family in quick succession.

The President had, last week, appointed Tinubu to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.

Akande, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria after the Tuesday meeting with the president, dismissed the speculation that they met with the president over 2019 presidential election, adding that they came to condole the president.

One of them, Hajiya Halima Dauda who was buried in the President's hometown of Daura was described by Mr Shehu as the President's niece and younger sister to his close associate Mamman Daura.

Buhari was received at the airport in Katsina by Governor Aminu Masari, the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Kabir Usman among other dignitaries.

NAN observed that the meeting of the APC Governors' Forum with President Buhari was first of its kind outside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
