Gunmen kill four paramilitary police in Pakistan's Quetta

Pakistani police say gunmen riding on motorcycles have opened fire on a vehicle carrying paramilitary soldiers in the country's southwest, killing four troops before fleeing.

At least four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred in an incident of firing in Quetta on Wednesday.

Police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies reached the spot as investigation into the incident went under way.

The personnel were targeted near Dukani Baba area on Sariab Road when they were patrolling a railway line.

Muazzam Jah, inspector general of Balochistan police, said there was no CCTV camera in the area of the attack.

SLED issued a be-on-the-lookout to law enforcement agencies Tuesday night according to an official with the department. Police said Todd's mother was taken to a local hospital, but did not offer any further details.

The bodies of the deceased, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical procedure.

The constable, identified as Naseer Ahmed, was going to his office when he was gunned down.

The Pakistani Taliban said it carried out the attack, the second time this month it has claimed a deadly assault on security forces.

On Jan 9, four Balochistan Constabulary personnel were among six killed in a suicide attack near the Balochistan Assembly.

"Security forces have [earlier] foiled several attempts to bomb passenger trains and recovered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted in the same area", he added.
