Boston Police Apologize For Honoring White Man For Black History Month

Police officials posted another Black History Monday tribute honoring the 's first black coach and former Celtics star.

Trump said, "This vision of freedom, equality and dignity lives in the heart of every American patriot and, just like so many African Americans throughout our history who have struggled and sacrificed for freedom, we must do our part to make that vision real for every single American".

The Boston Police department was in hot water Monday when their tweet honoring Red Auerbach during Black History Month did not go over well.

The tweet, accompanied by a photograph of a statue to Auerbach at Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace, was deleted less than an hour after it was posted.

"Is this a joke?" another asked.

Cedric Maxwell, whose number hangs in the rafters at TD Garden, said there was no need to be offended by the tweet.

Boston mayor Marty Walsh also condemned the tweet.

Melania Trump helped her husband celebrate Black History Month Tuesday.
