Mulvaney: 'Zero tolerance' for domestic violence; Kelly's job is secure

2 2018 US President Donald Trump speaks as he meets with North Korean defectors in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington DC

A White House official said his position did not require a security clearance and his background check was ongoing.

Conway also noted Gillibrand has said, in retrospect, Clinton should have resigned from the presidency over his relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

Gen. Kelly reportedly told USA president Donald Trump that he's willing to quit over his botched handling of the domestic violence allegations.

Some commentators objected to his reference to due process, for example pointing to his promotion of a conspiracy theory about former President Barack Obama's nationality.

There are now calls for Chief of Staff John Kelly, who allegedly knew about Porter's problems, to be investigated as well.

White House Legislative Affairs Director Marc Short told Chuck Todd on NBC's Meet the Press that Kelly is doing an "outstanding job" and isn't going anywhere.

One could also argue that peoples lives are also shattered by domestic abuse, but that's neither here nor there.

Korean ski coach: It's an 'honor' to compete in Olympics
North Korea reportedly staged a military parade in Pyongyang a day before the start of the South's Winter Olympics . Yet, he left South Korea on Saturday night having been told essentially to butt out of domestic Korean politics.

"Most importantly, the President has deep respect for her, cares about her greatly, and listens to her", Ivanka Trump said Friday, per NYT.

Trump also told reporters on Friday that Porter's departure was "very sad" and that "he did a very good job while he was in the White House", but he did not express sympathy for the women Porter allegedly abused, instead focusing on Porter's claim of innocence. "I stand by my previous comments of the Rob Porter that I have come to know since becoming Chief of Staff, and believe every individual deserves the right to defend their reputation".

White House officials have come under scrutiny for not taking action sooner.

However, questions have lingered about Porter was able to keep up with his job at the White House even after the abuse allegations reportedly surfaced.

White House budget director Mick Mulvaney on how the massive federal budget deal will impact the nation's debt. "Domestic violence is abhorrent and has no place in our society". She denied reports that Trump might be considering her as a replacement.

Mr Trump had earlier defended former aide Mr Porter, wishing him well in his future endeavours without any mention of the two ex-wives who have accused Porter of physical and emotional abuse.

Porter has denied the allegations against him saying, in a statement that, "These outrageous allegations are simply false". Did he tell Trump and Kelly to say incredibly sympathetic things about Porter and praise him to high heaven while ignoring the victims? No.
