Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre get engaged

BBC America

Heartthrob actor Idris Elba ended the dreams of fans worldwide this weekend by proposing to his girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre at a screening of his new movie.

With Valentine's Day just days away, it's undeniable that romance is in the air-well, at least it is for Idris Elba.

According to People, Elba fell in love with Dhowre while he was filming The Mountain Between Us.

The London-based cinema, Rio, where Elba's proposal took place, announced the happy event with a photo of the actor looking ecstatic, and wearing a sign that says "off", presumably because he's off the market now. "It's not my life's calling", Elba told Essence previous year.

"Am I even gonna get married?"

ABC News reached out to a rep for Elba, but didn't immediately hear back. "I don't think so", Elba told the magazine. He told Essence past year that he didn't expect to tie the knot again, calling marriage "an institution of sorts". "It's not my life's calling".

But loves makes fools of us all. He shares 15-year-old daughter Isan with Kim, and is also dad to 3-year-old son Winston with his ex-girlfriend, Naiyana Garth.

The London-born actor has previously been Wednesday to Hanne Norgaard and Sonya Hamlin.
