Schiff: I Can't Comment on Nunes Memo of 'Very Misleading Spin'

Monday's vote by the committee to approve the memo's release was a "very short-sighted attempt to protect Trump at nearly any cost", said Mieke Eoyang, a national security expert and a former Democratic staff member on the House Intelligence Committee. Schiff called the vote to release the memo "A very sad day, I think, in the history of this committee".

President Donald Trump has indicated he supports the memo being made public, telling a House Republican after the State of the Union address that he would "100 percent" release it. Trump's statement was at odds with the position of his own White House, which had insisted an actual review process was in place.

The four-page memorandum, which was written by Republican intelligence committee staff, reportedly summarizes the committee's investigation into how the Justice Department and the FBI utilized the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in the course of the Russian Federation probe - particularly the extent to which officials cited what's known as the "Trump dossier" in asking the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to approve a warrant in 2016 to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

The FBI takes seriously its obligations to the FISA Court and its compliance with procedures overseen by career professionals in the Department of Justice and the FBI.

I hate to break the news to you, but Nunes's assertions over the past year have been more trustworthy than those of his Democrat counterpart, Rep. Adam Schiff, who not only has a habit of offering the public out-of-context and misleading information but once claimed to have seen evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians without offering any of the underlying evidence to back his contention.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, is pleading with the president to not release a classified memo penned by the staff of Rep. Devin Nunes, R-California, that details alleged surveillance abuses by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that targeted members of the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election.

Dortmund had previously said the transfer could only be completed after they secure a replacement for Aubameyang. Olivier Giroud could be on his way out of Arsenal , Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The vote, made along party lines on Monday, threw fuel on an already fiery partisan conflict over the investigations into Russia's brazen meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Bannon also has not received documents to review from the White House or Trump's presidential transition office, the source said. Earlier this month, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray met with Ryan over the department's dispute with Nunes, trying to gauge where the speaker stood relating to Nunes' outstanding subpoena demands, CNN reported.

Indeed, it seems that Rosenstein now has a bullseye on his chest in the eyes of House Republicans and Trump, who is said to partially blame the deputy AG for the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller in the Justice Department's Russian Federation probe.

The memo arrived at the White House on Monday after the House intelligence committee brushed aside opposition from the Justice Department and voted to release it. Republicans say they are confident that the release won't harm national security. It's worth remembering that McCabe is far from the only Justice Department official Trump has tangled with since becoming president. Gowdy - who announced Wednesday he won't seek re-election to the House - said the memo doesn't reveal any intelligence methods but it does reveal "one source".

Since that letter was written, Wray was allowed to review the memo, though it has not been reviewed by the FBI's in-house lawyers, according to people familiar with the matter.

Republicans see the memo as a long-awaited vindication of their argument that Mr. Trump was smeared politically by the Washington establishment after his election.
