Oklahoma adds Georgia assistant Shane Beamer to staff

Georgia tight ends and special teams coach Shane Beamer reportedly has been hired by Oklahoma

"Shane Beamer is leaving Georgia to become assistant head coach for the offense at Oklahoma and will be involved with Lincoln Riley in preparing the Sooners' weekly offensive game plan, sources tell ESPN", reports ESPN's Chris Low. The team has yet to fill the 10th assistant coaching spot that the NCAA began allowing earlier this month. The Georgia assistant is the son of former Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer.

He spent five years as an assistant at Virginia Tech and also played for the Hokies in the late 1990s. Before his time with the Bulldogs, Beamer coached at Virginia Tech under his dad and legendary coach Frank Beamer.

The game plans were part of a four-game web - better known as WakeyLeaks - that included information received by Wake Forest opponents Army, Louisville and Georgia.

He's spent nearly all of his career at high-profile programs. starting a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech in 2000 and serving on Phil Fulmer's Tennessee staff as a GA from 2001-03.
