Microsoft announces Windows 10 PCs starting at $189

The company today unveiled new devices and software tools aimed at winning over more schools to Windows 10, which is estimated to have a market share of 22 percent in the U.S. K-12 segment compared with Chromebooks' almost 60 percent. With OEMs like Lenovo and JP, Microsoft is launching new laptops running Windows 10 and Windows 10 S for as low as $189. The include the Classmate Leap T303 laptop with Windows Hello for $199 and the Trigono V401 2-in-1 with pen and touch for $299. It's powered by an Intel Celeron Apollo Lake processor and starts at just $189. Another option is the Lenovo 300e, a 2-in-1 device with support for a pen for $279.

In all cases these are devices meant for kids, meaning they can handle a drops and spills without breaking. These devices join the HP ProBook x360 11 EE which has proven to be one of the best-selling 2-in-1 Windows devices in the education sector at $299.

Other interesting new projects include Minecraft getting a "World of Chemistry" update to help promote Chemistry learning in schools by making objects including glow sticks, rapid grow fertilizer, and underwater torches in Minecraft. From $300 Mixed Reality Headsets to the pricier HoloLens, there will be a VR curriculum by Pearson, the worlds largest education company.
