Henrikh Mkhitaryan in London to have Arsenal medical

Alexis Sanchez has undergone a medical at Manchester United as his potential swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan edges closer, according to Sky sources.

Many have criticised Sanchez, whose salary is set to increase markedly at United, with former Arsenal defender Martin Keown labelling the former Barca forward as "the biggest mercenary in football".

There was a huge breakthrough in the deal on Saturday when Mkhitaryan finally agreed to leave United for the Gunners.

The Chilean missed Arsenal's 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday because he was travelling to Manchester.

City this week pulled out of the race to sign Sanchez after deciding that the player's wage and transfer fee demands were too high but United appear to have no such concerns.

McClaren, who was Alex Ferguson's assistant when Manchester United won the treble in 1999, said the Sanchez signing would be a major coup for the club but warned his earnings could unsettle other players.

"If you ask me if I think he is coming, I think so, but I have no confirmation", Mourinho said.

Alexis and Mkhitaryan have been dropped from Arsenal and Manchester United squad lists respectively: a new beginning is just around the corner for Alexis and Mkhi but also for the Gunners and the Red Devils.

"I didn't take him because there is a question of him moving to Manchester United and you can not drive up north and as well play football", Wenger said.

The Old Trafford boss said: "I expect soon, or never".

"I worked on transfers for 30 years so it is likely to happen, but at any moment it can break down".

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to move in the opposite direction and will complete his own medical within the next 24 hours.

"The owners have given the green light, Mr Woodward working hard with Matt Judge".

Arsenal will have to raise their opening bid of €50 million if they are to land Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, says The Telegraph .

"I think everybody is giving everything they can and I think they are going to be successful".

"If you want to have a bit, it could happen".
