Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Game Trailer and Details

Street Fighter V Arcade Edition review — how the fighter should have launched

The role-playing game, set for release sometime this year, will give players the chance to become Hogwarts students, from getting that official Hogwarts letter (swoon) to attending classes with familiar professors. Those who are lucky enough to attend A Celebration of Harry Potter - running January 26-28 at Universal Studios in Orlando - will have a chance to sit down in a room with Jam City team members and hear more about the game in two separate panels.

Hogwarts Mystery's avatar customization system will also let players upgrade their character throughout the game with new magical abilities and spells, helping them solve puzzles as they progress. Announced via JK Rowling's Pottermore site in November, Portkey Games will "work with talented creators to build games that focus on player-generated stories, which will live alongside the magical universe created by JK Rowling".

Based on the reveal trailer, Hogwarts Mystery looks like it touches on numerous elements that make the school experience in the Harry Potter stories so exciting: Classes with teachers you know, clique-y groups of friends and enemies, an ever-growing array of magical abilities, and even wizard duels. According to Jam City, the quests players will be able to take up will range from large plot arcs to smaller relationship-based missions.

The New Jersey junior senator tore into the Department of Homeland Security Secretary for not remembering Trump's " shithole countries " comment.

The game is set in the time between Harry Potter's birth and his enrollment at Hogwarts, when Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley were students. The game features a new encounter system in which player's decisions in both actions and narrative impact their quests, and how other characters regard and interact with them.

If a lot of this seems vague, it's because Jam City isn't revealing much just yet. Interactive Entertainment, is a games label dedicated to creating gaming experiences inspired by the magic and adventures of J.K. Rowling's Wizarding world. Warner Bros has announced that fans can attend the "A Celebration of Harry Potter" event at Universal Studios in Florida from 26-28 January. The Harry Potter books have sold more than 450 million copies worldwide and the films have grossed more than $7.7 billion to date. Jam City® and the Jam City Logo are registered and/or unregistered trademarks of Jam City, Inc.
