Apple's San Francisco commuter buses are reportedly being attacked

Apple shuttle buses rerouted following suspected attacks

In response, we've learned that Apple has rerouted the bus routes for employees living in San Francisco, adding 30-45 minutes of commute time each way, as the company works with authorities to see what exactly is going on.

The CHP says they are working with other law enforcement agencies and Apple's security team since the majority of the buses have been transporting their people.

That being said, the buses of each of the tech firms are a distinct color: Google's are white, Apple's are silver and Facebook's are blue.

One of the emails noted that "There is nothing confirmed but it is suspected that a pellet gun might have been used in these incidents".

The first window was shattered on the evening of Friday, January 12th as the shuttle bus traveled from the company campus back into San Francisco. The incidents happened in both the morning and evening on both directions of Highway 280.

According to reports, the culprits behind the attack and the motive have not yet been found. Google and Apple have re-routed their coaches in wake of the attack.

The incidents remain under investigation, and further details were not immediately available. No one was injured in the incidents.

The rocks or shots only took out the outer layer of the buses' double pane windows and no one was hurt. The buses suffered broken windows. Montiel said he had received no reports that other company buses or private vehicles had been targeted.

Apple and Google have yet to respond to NBC Bay Area's request for comment.

The Guardian confirmed the attacks with California highway patrol public information officer Art Montiel. The buses are available to employees only, and they've always been a symbol of division between the tech world and everyone else.

The damage was caused on a stretch of Highway 280 between Highway 85 and Woodside Road, Montiel said.
