Apple accelerates U.S. investment and job creation

Apple has two large data centers in Prineville and plans to build another.

Apple expects to invest over $30 billion in capital expenditures in the United States over the next five years and create over 20,000 new jobs through hiring at existing campuses and opening a new one. Apple had to build the facility to quality for all its $89 million in tax abatements negotiated with state and local governments.

Amid today's news, the company also broke ground on a new site in Reno, Nevada.

"We believe deeply in the power of American ingenuity, and we are focusing our investments in areas where we can have a direct impact on job creation and job preparedness", said Apple chief executive Tim Cook in a statement.

Former Zimbabwe army chief sworn in as vice president
Mugabe, 93, was ousted as feuding and factionalism escalated in the governing ZANU PF party over who would succeed him. Kembo Mohadi, a former state security minister, was sworn in Thursday as the other vice president.

He says the company has always felt a big sense of responsibility to give back to the country and the people who have made its success possible.

All of Apple's USA facilities, including offices, retail stores and data centers, are powered by 100 percent renewable energy sources like solar, wind and micro-hydro power, which Apple generates or purchases from local projects.

Apple Inc. said it will bring hundreds of billions of overseas dollars back to the USA, pay about $38 billion in taxes on the money and invest tens of billions on domestic jobs, manufacturing and data centers in the coming years.
