Kristen Wiig to Star in Apple Comedy Series From Reese Witherspoon

The untitled 10-episode series is the tech giant's first half-hour comedy

Witherspoon will executive produce via her Hello Sunshine banner along with Lauren Neustadter and Wiig.

The untitled half-hour project is based on Curtis Sittenfeld's You Think It, I'll Say It, a collection of short stories that tackle issues of class, relationships and gender roles.

The series, which will be exec produced by and star SNL vet Kristen Wiig, hails from Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine.

In a competitive situation with multiple outlets bidding, Apple has landed a 10-episode comedy series executive produced by and starring the Saturday Night Live grad.

Series creator Colleen McGuiness (30 Rock) will serve as showrunner. She also appeared in a few episodes on the Fox show The Last Man on Earth previous year. Sittenfeld will serve as a consulting producer.

This is the third project Apple has ordered from Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, including the Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston-starring drama about a morning show which received a two-season pickup in November, and the Octavia Spencer-starring Are You Sleeping. Wiig earned three Supporting Actress in a Comedy Emmy nominations for her work on the show. Apple's growing slate of originals also includes Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories, Ron Moore's space drama, the epic, world building drama See from Steven Knight and Francis Lawrence and docuseries Home from Matt Tyrnauer and Matthew Weaver.

Wiig is repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman.
