JJ Abrams reportedly shopping space drama TV show

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Abrams is developing a new drama series through his Bad Robot Productions banner, now housed under Warner Bros. Should the project move forward, it would be Abrams' first TV writing gig since "Fringe" in 2008. Television also open to additional bidders as the project is still being shopped.

The drama is reportedly set in space, focusing on a family's struggle from tragedy to a new dimension. Her father follows his daughter into this other place and presumably, we'll all be off on a journey of odd new discoveries there. Whether this premise has any of the ambitious potential of Lost or Fringe remains to be seen, although the fact that Abrams had a hand in many iconic genre shows is certainly promising. Er ... personally, I'm not entirely sure, but HBO and Apple are betting big that viewers will return in droves to watch J.J. Abrams' next science fiction outing. He next has Hulu's Stephen King anthology Castle Rock, from writers Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomas, due from Warner Bros. He then gained far more traction with the Star Trek reboot in 2009 and obviously, he'll now be known for directing two Star Wars sequel films as well. He's repped by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman.
