Iran Reproves US Sanctions Which 'Cross All Red Lines,' Vows to Respond

U.S. President Donald Trump

But proponents of the deal say that it forced Iran to destroy much of its nuclear equipment and allow strict inspections that prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

"JCPOA is not renegotiable: rather than repeating exhausted rhetoric, U.S. must bring itself into full compliance - just like Iran", Zarif tweeted immediately after Trump's speech.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said it was a "desperate attempt" to undermine a "solid" deal.Germany said it would continue to call for the deal's full implementation and would consult on a "common way forward" with the United Kingdom and France.

"Our worst expectations are coming true", Ryabkov said Saturday. The White House also issued new, non-nuclear related sanctions against Iranian and Chinese entities and individuals.

Washington also imposed sanctions on the head of Iran's judiciary and others.

Senior administration officials said Larijani has overseen the sentencing and execution of juveniles in Tehran.

However, Iran disagreed with Trump that its long-range ballistic missile program could be sanctioned under the terms of the current deal. Trita Parsi, head of the National Iranian American Council, called it a "temporary stay of execution".

Federica Mogherini, the European Union's foreign policy chief, said earlier this week that the "deal is working; it is delivering on its main goal, which means keeping the Iranian nuclear programme in check and under close surveillance".

In a phone call, President Emmanuel Macron of France also urged Trump not to scrap the deal.

He is the brother of the speaker of the Iranian parliament, Ali Larijani, the officials said. It is as if he is threatening to withhold his next payment on a building development unless his contractors agree to fix the lobby and build a garage for free, and he's asking his family to secure these concessions. The foreign affairs deputy minister in Moscow, Sergei Ryabkov noted that Russian Federation has a very pessimistic stance on the documents and decisions made by the American president about the Iran nuclear deal. The Europeans, meanwhile, have said they are willing to discuss the matter with the US but have shown little enthusiasm with Trump's hard line. Trump wants them to continue indefinitely so that the United States can rapidly resume sanctions if Iran is ever found to be cheating.

The agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed by former US President Barack Obama and other world leaders after two years of intense talks, marking a significant shift after decades of animosity between Tehran and the West. Continuing to maintain and implement the Iran nuclear deal is the responsibility of all parties concerned, and is the common wish of the worldwide community, said Wang, adding that this will help uphold global non-proliferation regime, maintain regional peace and stability as well as solve other hot issues in the world.
