Gaza fisherman shot dead by Egyptian army - Palestinians

Mourners carry the body of Abdullah Zeidan a 33-year-old fisherman during his funeral in Gaza City

On December 14, following multiple rocket attacks from Gaza, Israel also shut down the Kerem Shalom Crossing, along with the Erez Crossing, through which people enter and exit the Strip.

According to the IDF, rioters in four different locations along the Israel-Gaza border burnt tires and hurled rocks at Israeli security forces.

The IDF confirmed on Sunday that it destroyed a terror tunnel stretching from Gaza to Egypt that crossed into Israeli territory directly under the Kerem Shalom border crossing.

The Erez Crossing opened a day later, and Kerem Shalom was reopened on December 17.

On Saturday night the IDF announced it would be closing the Kerem Shalom crossing after an assessment of the current security situation, but did not provide further details.

Trump to issue final Iran deal waiver, officials say
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has criticized President Trump, saying the nuclear deal is not renegotiable. The US president is required to renew the existing deal every 120 days under American law.

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman commended the forces for carrying out the "professional and precise" operation. Meanwhile, the military officials have noted that more tunnels will likely be destroyed in coming months as the barrier nears completion, TOI added. The destruction of the terror tunnel network is an essential component of our systematic policy to harm Hamas's strategic capabilities.

"Some time ago, the Israel Defense Forces, using aviation, attacked the terrorist infrastructure in the area of southern [Palestinian city of] Rafah near the Egypt-Gaza Strip border", the press release reads.

A fisherman from the Gaza Strip was shot dead by the Egyptian army overnight for unclear reasons, Palestinian officials said Saturday, calling for an immediate investigation into the incident.

"The terrorist organization Hamas is responsible for everything happening in and out of the Gaza Strip", an IDF statement said.

Gaza's interior ministry said an initial investigation indicated "the Palestinian fishing boat did not cross the Egyptian (maritime) border". The 1.5-kilometer (about 0.93-mile) long tunnel, which passed under several strategic Israeli targets such as a gas pipeline, was completely destroyed in the strike.
