Suspect accused of shooting Knoxville police officer now TBI's 'Most Wanted'

A reputed Aryan Nations gang member accused of wounding a Knoxville police officer in a Thursday night shooting has been added to Tennessee's Top 10 Most Wanted list. He has a history of violence and considered unsafe. "If he is going to take a shot at an officer, he won't hesitate to shoot at someone else".

"The officer, as far as I'm aware, did not fire his weapon", Rausch said. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the driver shot at the officer with a handgun and a shotgun.

The officer who was shot is Jay Williams, a 14-year veteran of KPD.

Authorities responded to 5405 Washington Pike just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday for reports of a shooting near the Target store. So we ask that folks if you see the vehicle, if you know this individual, then do not intervene.

Officer Williams was transported to UT Medical Center to treat a gunshot wound to the shoulder, where he was later released Friday morning. "Call law enforcement and let us know where he is".

Rausch said Wilson is listed as a member of the Aryan Nations gang, and there is now an outstanding warrant for his arrest for a violation of probation and aggravated assault. Facebook photos reveal a large swastika tattoo on his body as well as a Celtic cross with the words "White Pride Worldwide", according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Rausch said that enforcement agencies across the state are "very familiar" with Wilson.

In Knox County, Wilson was convicted of aggravated burglary in 2011 and was sentenced to serve three years in a state prison, according to court records.

His vehicle, a Chevy Nova, was recovered by police Friday.
