Spartak Moscow under fire for "chocolate" tweet

Spartak Moscow under fire for

A video published on the club's official Twitter page shows some of their players at a training session, and carries the caption 'see how the chocolate melt in the sun'.

It is not the first time Spartak have been censured over racist behaviour this season.

One body presumably unperturbed by this latest story from Russian Federation is FIFA, who, having given the World Cup to Russian Federation, disbanded their anti-racism taskforce in September 2016 past year declaring that their "work was done".

"For Russia's biggest club to tolerate and then celebrate racist references of this kind is wrong", said Piara Powar, the head of European anti-discrimination organisation Fare network, in comments carried by the BBC.

The tweet was posted on Saturday morning at 9.16am from the club's official and verified Twitter account. "With the World Cup only a few months away, it is a reminder that Russian Federation - as with the whole of football - has significant work to do to eradicate racism of all forms from the game".

Real Madrid dealt Kane blow as Levy insists Tottenham stars going nowhere
Barca, having already used the Neymar fee to sign Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, might struggle to raise the cash. He was on loan from Atletico Madrid with Spurs eventually signing him on a permanent.

Spartak have already been punished by UEFA for racism this season having been fined £33,000 for offences committed by their fans during a Champions League tie against Liverpool in October.

Russia, billed to host the FIFA World Cup in June has a long history of racial prejudices and intolerance.

Last month, Spartak defender Leonid Mironov was charged with racially abusing Reds striker Rhian Brewster after an incident during the return Uefa Youth League game between the sides at Prenton Park.

They were sanctioned for Islamophobic chanting recently but clearly the message has not reached the players or the club management.
