Rohingya insurgents say 10 found in Myanmar grave "innocent civilians"

Rohingya insurgents say 10 found in Myanmar grave

A state-run newspaper says Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi has called the military's investigation into the deaths of Rohingya Muslims found in a mass grave a "positive indication".

Myanmar's military said earlier this week its soldiers had killed 10 captured Muslim "terrorists" during insurgent attacks at the beginning of September, after Buddhist villagers had forced the captured men into a grave the villagers had dug.

The acknowledgement is an indication that the country is ready to own responsibility for any breaches in rule of law, said Suu Kyi, after meeting Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kano, Efe news reported quoting the state media.

A European Union delegation in Myanmar on Thursday urged the government to launch a thorough and credible investigation into violence against Rohingyas in the western Rakhine State.

Asked about the admission on Wednesday by Myanmar's military that its security forces and Buddhist villagers killed 10 captured Rohingya during clashes a year ago, Suu Kyi stressed the importance of the rule of law and said the military will take responsibility.

Real Madrid dealt Kane blow as Levy insists Tottenham stars going nowhere
Barca, having already used the Neymar fee to sign Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, might struggle to raise the cash. He was on loan from Atletico Madrid with Spurs eventually signing him on a permanent.

As of December 2017, an estimated 6,55,000 Rohingya people fled to Bangladesh to avoid the persecution from the security forces that started in Myanmar's Rakhine state in August past year.

Neither the military nor Suu Kyi has said what action will be taken against those responsible for the deaths linked to the mass grave in Rakhine state. Lawyer Khin Win said a murder complaint against the son was filed with local prosecutors last week in Maungdaw, the nearest town to Inn Din.

A Rohingya woman and three children perished when a fire gutted their tent shelter in a United Nations camp in Bangladesh, authorities said Friday.

More than 600,000 Rohingya, who are not recognised by the Myanmar government as one of the country's many ethnic groups, have fled to Bangladesh since August previous year, when violence between armed Rohingya and Myanmar security forces prompted a severe crackdown.

Myanmar denies ethnic cleansing, saying its security forces had mounted legitimate counter-insurgency clearance operations.
