WASHINGTON-The British ex-spy who authored a dossier of allegations against then-presidential candidate Donald Trump was told the Federal Bureau of Investigation had someone inside Trump's network providing agents with information, according to a newly released transcript of a congressional interview.
On Monday, there were new revelations that FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page had texted messages to each other that suggested they were on the Russian Federation investigation before the election.
There was significant infighting among Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee over whether to release the transcript.
Grassley's office slammed Feinstein for releasing the testimony, saying it came as the panel was still trying to interview other witnesses, including Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
In a follow-up Tweet, the President noted that the House of Representatives is taking up legislation regarding the FISA Amendments Act, which President Trump said may have been used in surveillance of The Trump Campaign.
"He wants to be very careful to protect his sources", Josh Levy, an attorney for Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson, said during an August 22 Senate Judiciary Committee interview of his client.
Trump should apologize for any vulgar language, says Haiti's ambassador to US
The Washington Post reported Trump's remarks, who said: "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here? ". Susan Collins of ME chimed in on Twitter to call Trump's remarks "highly inappropriate & out of bounds".
Trump has attacked the dossier and called it "very fake", although its contents have not been proved or disproved.
Simpson, a former journalist who co-founded Fusion GPS, denied strongly in the interview that the dossier, which contains some salacious allegations, was phony.
Democrats say those investigations are a distraction.
"The president's expressed desire to see more immigrants from countries like Norway must be called out for what it is: an effort to set this country back generations by promoting a homogenous, white society", Feinstein said in a statement. He has also talked to the House and Senate intelligence committees. And as the top Democrat on the committee, she didn't need authorization from Grassley to release it.
Grassley is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has been conducting an investigation running parallel to special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Trump's alleged ties to Russian Federation. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) a criminal investigation against Steele for lying to the FBI.
The disclosure raises questions about whether McCain knew that the information he delivered to the intelligence community was actually an opposition document reportedly funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
