PDP MLA trigers controversy, says, "militants are our brothers"

Kashmiri militants are our brothers PDP MLA

A lawmaker from Jammu and Kashmir's ruling Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday said slain militants were "martyrs" and nobody should celebrate their death, prompting the Opposition to claim that ally BJP was behind such statements in a bid to improve their image.

"Militants who are from Kashmir and get killed are martyrs, they are our brothers, and some of them are minors who don't even know what they are doing", Mir told the reporters in Jammu and Kashmir outside the state Assembly.

Mir, who represents Wachi constituency, the hotbed of militancy, said time has come to talk to Hurriyat, militants and other stakeholders to resolve the Kashmir issue to end the bloodshed. We should not celebrate the killing of terrorists. "It is a collective failure", Mir argued.

He added that he "also sympathized with the forces and parents of soldiers who were killed". We should not glorify the killing of terrorists. The PDP is in alliance with the BJP (in Jammu and Kashmir).

Brexit: Nigel Farage says second referendum would "kill off" remainers
The 53-year-old will be entitled to annual European Union pension of £73,000 when he reaches the age of 63. But Mr Farage's former UKIP colleagues dismissed his suggestion.

The BJP condemned Mirs statement with its state spokesman Suni Sethi saying, "It seems that said legislator has lost mental balance to talk in the language of militants and separatists while under oath of constitution as legislator". "Terrorists and separatists are enemies of Kashmir, Kashmiris, development, and peace". Yes, they are our brothers.

BJP MLA from Nowshera, Ravinder Raina, said that "glorifying terrorists is like playing with fire and he will take up the matter with the Speaker and also ask Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to reprimand her legislator for such a sensational statement". "Young boys get glorified by taking arms in their hand and uploading the picture on social media sites. We are happy that they are coming back".

Members of National Conference (NC), Congress and CPI (M) expressed anger over the death of a 20-year-old man allegedly in firing by security forces following the killing of a militant in Khudwani area of Kulgam district on Tuesday.
