Lawsuit Accuses Ford of Diesel Cheating Scandal

Ford manipulated the emissions system in violation of federal requirements and the affected trucks released twice the legal limits of emissions during normal driving, the lawsuit claimed.

This time the Dieselgate crosshairs are leveled at Ford, courtesy of a lawsuit filed yesterday from disgruntled F-250 and F-350 Super Duty owners who allege their trucks emit far more nasty bits into the air than advertised. A defeat device is software created to fool emissions tests by allowing a vehicle to boost its performance, but pollute substantially more in real-world driving.

The Stuttgart prosecutors launched an investigation over Bosch's emissions dealings with Volkswagen (VW) in 2015 when VW's diesel test-cheating scandal in the United States broke, and in 2017 in relation to alleged emissions irregularities at Daimler.

In the tests Ford conducted on the F-250 and F-350 vehicles, "emissions are routinely as high as five times the standard", the lawsuit said, quipping that the trucks should bear the moniker "Super Dirty".

Those accusations have resulted in a lawsuit being filed by the law firm Hagens Berman on behalf of Super Duty owners.

Family slams TV series on Versace murder
The family challenges in particular Orth's claim that Versace was HIV-positive. "We stand by the meticulous reporting of Ms. Versace's family, who lived and worked closely with him and were in the best position to know the facts of his life".

The lawsuit against Ford, which also names the supplier Bosch as a defendant, said Ford installed "defeat devices" on about a half million 2011-17 Super Duty diesels. "We will safeguard ourselves against these baseless claims". The software was allegedly developed and supplied to Ford by Bosch.

In a statement Wednesday, Bosch stated accusations against the company "remain the subject of investigations and civil litigation" and it takes accusations of diesel software application adjustment "very seriously".

"Ford automobiles do not have defeat devices", the company stated.

The lawsuit, filed on January 10 in the U.S. District for the Eastern District of MI, further claims that the trucks' touted performance, power and towing capabilities are only obtained by switching off or turning down emissions controls when the software senses the vehicle is not in an emissions-testing environment.
