Gardner to Investigate Greitens Affair

Greitens left walks with President Donald Trump as they arrive in Springfield Mo. Wednesday Aug. 30 2017

On Thursday, Missouri State Senator Doug Libla submitted a letter to the state attorney general requesting an investigation in this case.

The affair took place in March 2015, before Greitens was elected governor. "If the Prosecuting Attorney has a legal conflict or lacks the resources to pursue an investigation, he or she may seek assistance from the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and the Attorney General's Office".

St. Louis circuit attorney Kim Gardner says she believes an investigation into this incident is necessary.

"The serious allegations against Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens are very troubling".

She also said during the taped conversation that Greitens threatened to release the photo if she went public about the affair.

The local television station ran with the story ahead of any statement from the governor, headlining the report, "Blackmail alleged as Governor Greitens admits to extramarital affair". By 10:30 a.m., much of the state Capitol was empty. The woman involved in the affair has not been named.

"This personal matter has been addressed by the Governor and Mrs. Greitens privately years ago when it happened". "This was a deeply personal mistake".

"Eric took responsibility, and we dealt with this honestly and privately", the statement continued.

He thanked "God's mercy" for helping his wife Sheena forgive him. "Now we know who has been peddling that gossip". "But for those who can find it in your heart, Eric asks for your forgiveness, and we are grateful for your love, your compassion and your prayers".

Kevin Gates Released From Prison
In 2015, Gates was charged with battery for allegedly kicking a female fan at a concert in Lakeland, Florida. Baton Rouge rapper Kevin Gates was released from an IL prison on Wednesday, according to a report.

An additional statement from Sheena Greitens said: "We have a loving marriage and an awesome family; anything beyond that is between us and God".

Greitens met with Cabinet members and placed phone calls to rally support Thursday while his attorney fended off with firm denials a smattering of accusations that Gretiens had acted violently, taken a revealing photo or tried to blackmail the woman to remain silent about their 2015 affair.

The report concluded that Texas ran afoul of federal law by failing to locate students in need of special education, failing to ensure free public education was made available to children with disabilities and failing to adequately supervise and monitor the state's special education program. "The station declined to provide the tape or transcript in advance of running their story, which contained multiple false allegations", Bennett said. "There was no 'blackmail, ' " lawyer Bennett said in a written statement, "and that claim is false".

That bill did not pass, but as governor, Greitens past year signed into law a bill that critics said would make it almost impossible for Missourians to win discrimination suits. "The outrageous claims of improper contact regarding these nearly three-year-ago events are a lie". The ex-husband's attorney said Thursday that his client had told him Greitens also slapped the woman at a later time. "If these allegations are true, it would constitute some criminal action".

Though Greitens has had his moments of success as governor, like signing a right-to-work law early previous year, he was fined $1,000 after admitting to the Missouri Ethics Commission that he had violated campaign finance law, according to the Kansas City Star. I'm calling on Governor Greitens to resign immediately and give Missouri the opportunity to restore some dignity to the governor's office. "There's problems with dark money in this administration, and I think they're orders of magnitude more important than the allegations from yesterday". He and his senior staff have also come under fire for using an app that deletes text messages after they've been read, raising concerns about trying to subvert Missouri open records law.

One of the few exceptions was state Sen.

A spokeswoman for the FBI's St. Louis office said the agency could not confirm or deny that it was investigating. "And that's the goal of my contacting the Attorney General's office on this". "As we confirmed today, the allegations are being stirred up for partisan reasons". "As governor, we're going to do both".

He can now expect Democratic opponents to join his name with that of failed Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore or the former Speaker of the Kentucky House Jeff Hoover, who recently resigned amid allegations of sexual harassment.
