Protests urged for Trump Atlanta visit

When President Trump visits Atlanta Monday night to attend college football's national championship game, he may not remember just a year ago he described the city as "in awful shape", "falling apart" and "crime infested".

Last year, Trump attacked NFL players who kneel during the national anthem. The organization also asked people to tweet during the game about the alleged falsehoods told by the president during his first year in office.

"Trump dissed Atlanta by calling it "crime infested". and now, he thinks he can just stroll into Atlanta and watch football on Monday?" the group asks in a Facebook post.

Trump arrived in metro Atlanta around 6 p.m.to take in the all-Southeastern Conference matchup between the two powerhouses.

The Alabama Crimson Tide was facing the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff national championship. The white is meant to mock the "snowflake" label Trump's supporters use to describe their opponents.

Atlanta police set up designated areas for demonstrations and had previously said they wouldn't interfere unless protesters break the law.

NAACP Atlanta did not plan any sort of demonstration aside from the tweetstorm, chapter president Richard Rose said, and did not want to disrupt the game.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the venue for the 2018 college football championship game in downtown Atlanta.

The NAACP is urging people to wear white and hold anti-Trump signs on Monday.

Now, a group called Refuse Facism ATL says it is organizing a "Take a Knee" protest against the President outside of the stadium.

President Donald Trump won the states of Alabama and Georgia in the 2016 presidential election, but Jackson says his politics and policies are antithetical to Dr. Martin Luther King's dream for America.
