Prince of Persia Creator Attempting to Resurrect the Franchise

A new Prince of Persia game looks likely to be released at some point, following a tweet from the original creator to a fan of the cinematic platformer adventure.

Mechner was asked by model Chrissy Teigen (via Gamespot) if the series is still alive. However, in 2010 a film based upon the series and another game were released, and since both of their poor receptions, the series has gone dark, with nothing really popping up in the last eight years.

The Prince of Persia franchise has been left by the wayside since The Forgotten Sands in 2013 (itself quickly forgotten about by most). Though the tweet doesn't confirm that a new Prince of Persia game is in development, it does offer fans a great deal of hope.

Zeman added, he was "honored to be attacked by a member of the Femen movement, which has also attacked the pope". A convergence of Zeman with Okamura was debated in the past.

The game's creator is trying his best to make it happen.

'Chrissy, I know a few other people who feel the same way. Since then the Prince of Persia franchise has been very dormant but with Mechner working on reviving it, we could potentially see another game hit current-gen consoles.

Ubisoft is now focused on Assassin's Creed franchise which is still going strong with the launch of Assassin's Creed Origins. However, by the end of the PS3/Xbox 360 era, the series seemed to be put on ice and the Assassin's Creed franchise appears to have taken its place. Mechner said on Twitter, though he sadly didn't elaborate further. Now, like many of us, she wants to know what's happening with Prince of Persia.
