Fox News' chief DC reporter left after harassment claims

James Rosen

"And his departure followed increased scrutiny of his behavior at the network, according to colleagues", David Folkenflik wrote in the NPR story. NPR spoke with eight of his former colleagues at the Fox News Washington, D.C., bureau, who said Rosen had a long history of making sexual advances and aggressive flirting toward co-workers.

Former chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, as well as personalities Bill O'Reilly and Eric Bolling, left the network following sexual misconduct allegations.

Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Last spring, Rosen also allegedly tried to kiss a younger female reporter in the elevator, and once she declined, he allegedly tried to "forcibly to kiss her again".

Rosen is the latest in a string of high-profile men in the news media to be accused of "inappropriate behavior", including several at Fox. Rosen declined to comment to NPR after it set out in detail what it meant to report.

Trump To Announce "Corrupt Media Awards" Next Week
And most recently, Trump congratulated the new publisher of "The Failing New York Times " and offered a bit of unsolicited advice. U.S. president Donald Trump has had a complicated relationship with American media in his almost one year of presidency.

Rosen isn't the only journalist facing scrutiny this week - the Washington Post suspended reporter Joel Achenbach 90 days for "inappropriate workplace conduct" allegedly involving female journalists. According to NPR, it is likely that his departure is a outcome of alleged scrutiny he was facing at work-specifically sexual harassment allegations.

In April, news host Bill O'Reilly was sacked after the New York Times reported Fox News paid five women about $13 million to settle harassment claims. But there have been questions on whether the network has done enough to address a culture that allowed for such predation.

Political commentator Scottie Nell Hughes filed a lawsuit against Fox News alleging she was raped by anchor Charles Payne and blacklisted by the network after reporting the allegation.

"Now of course all the liberals are going down the drain", Murdoch said, referring to allegations at other networks.

Fox issued a clarification, saying in a statement, "Rupert has made it abundantly clear that he understands that there were real problems at Fox News". In exchange for her keeping the complaint private, NPR reported, Fox News and the producer, a foreign national, made a deal "that enabled her to extend her stay in the USA", in NPR's words.
