CBFC Certified Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat After 300 Cuts? Makers React!

Deepika Padukone in a still from'Padmaavat

The panel comprised four historians from Rajasthan, who Karni Sena claims, advised the CBFC against clearing the film. "We are not here for any type of rebellious activity, we just wanted to talk to the CBFC and tell them that Padmavat film violates the Indian history and request them to not release it", Prakash Singh Parmar, a Karni Sena worker, told ANI.

Meanwhile, it was being reported that not five, but CBFC has suggested some 300 cuts to the film.

The makers, however, are not sticking to the suggested "Padmavat" and have added another "a", making it "Padmaavat", if we go by the film's official Twitter handle. The film has finally received a green signal from the CBFC which awarded it a "U/A" certificate with some modifications. The Karni Sena has also demanded the resignation of Prasoon Joshi, the chairman of CBFC. The Ghoomar song was also asked to be changed to fit the character in it.The latest development is the change in the title, which was one of the modifications suggested by the censor board.

The report further read that "Padmavat" director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been instructed to delete all references to Delhi, Chittorgarh and Mewar from the film and that "buzz is that they (the modifications) have resulted in as many as 300 cuts". "Addition of a disclaimer which clearly makes the point that the film in no manner subscribes to the practice of Sati or seeks to glorify it", the statement said.

Eden Hazard voted into UEFA Fan's Team of the Year
Players from the Spanish league dominated the team with five Champions League winning Real Madrid players finding mentions. De Bruyne's sparkling performance for Manchester City earned him a place in the team for the first time.

It is co-produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, the film is based a 16th-century poem written by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi.

"Padmaavat" producers have accepted the changes. "We have full faith in the CBFC and in the transparent, fair and inclusive process that has been followed", the statement said.

In 2016, films like Kapil Sharma's Firangi and Arbaaz Khan and Sunny Leone-starrer Tera Intezaar were postponed to December 1. "Padmavat" has been given a censor certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
