American Children Have A Higher Chance Of Dying Before Adulthood

"We must reauthorize the Children's Health Insurance Program - also known as CHIP - that expired in September".

But Matthew Fiedler, an economist at Brookings' Center for Health Policy, told TPM that this not much of a cause for celebration, as part of the reason for the new, lower cost of CHIP is the expectation that many more parents around the country will go uninsured.

Before Congress passed the short-term funding fix in late December, CHIP programs survived on the states'unspent funds and a $3 billion pool of CHIP money controlled by CMS.

Dr. Mahendra Patel, a pediatric cancer doctor, has begun giving away medications to some of his patients, determined not to disrupt their treatments for serious illnesses like leukemia, should Congress fail to come up with renewed funding for a key children's health program now hostage to partisan politics.

While members of Congress on both sides of the aisle insist that CHIP must be reauthorized, GOP leaders have yet to even schedule a vote, and the program has been stuck in limbo for months amid disagreements about how to pay for it. "Funding is still set to run out as early as January 19 in some states". But officials recently heard from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that DE will now be able to last until February 28.

"This is a critical program that serves thousands of Alaskans, and I remain committed to finding a comprehensive and long-term solution for it", Rep. Don Young said.

"It's creating a lot of anxiety about not having insurance and the kids getting sick", she said.

"Families across America had to start 2018 anxious that their kids wouldn't have health care", she tweeted.

Liam Neeson Furious Over Hollywood's Gender Wage Gap
Long before the train at the center of " The Commuter " physically derails, its storyline and plausibility sputter out of control. There's no reason on earth for someone to blackmail him so there's got to be a situation playing out behind the scenes.

Unfortunately, some states haven't fared as well as others.

Virginia and CT can promise to keep their CHIP program running only through February, officials said.

In Ohio, covering the 200,000 children enrolled in CHIP costs about $45 million a month - a cost Ohio funds via Medicaid.

Some states will reach the bottom of their CHIP funding before March, according to an analysis published Wednesday by Kaiser, which said that before the funding extension 18 states estimated they would run out of money by the end of January.

"We need the leadership of our Congress to get with the program and to wake up to the needs of children", he said.

Will your family be affected?

Child health-care advocates have long complained that the KidCare program is not user-friendly because of the number of agencies involved, including the Department of Children and Families, the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Department of Health and the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation.
