Senator John Thune has some questions for Apple

Some customers have said they had to wait a week to schedule an appointment, and others showed up at an Apple store only to be told the store was out of batteries.

At the time, the company asserted it would never "do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades". She was allegedly using an official Apple charger.

An Apple iPhone exploded yesterday injuring a repairman in Zurich, on the day of iPhone's launch anniversary. In essence, the more a phone's battery was damaged, the slower it would perform in order to conserve battery power.

After the Reddit post was published, Apple acknowledged that its 2016 release of iOS 10.2.1 added a feature created to smooth out peak power demands in the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE by slowing down processor performance.

The revelation led to numerous complaints from iPhone users that Apple was deliberately throttling their devices without informing them why or giving them the ability to opt out.

RCMP seeks cause of illnesses suffered by Canadian diplomats in Cuba
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is leading an ongoing investigation that includes other Canadian agencies. Brown said the investigation has considered the possibility of an attack with a virus or ultrasound.

The pressure from the U.S. follows action by the French government.

Following a report yesterday indicating that a French watchdog was launching a preliminary investigation into Apple's battery and performance practices, the company now faces even more scrutiny from additional government officials in the USA. Apple did not respond immediately to Newsweek's request for comment. Bloggers and technology pundits criticized Apple for not disclosing the practice sooner, and the company apologized late last month, saying it would slash the costs for some iPhone battery replacements from $79 to $29.

As if Apple doesn't have enough on its plate, the French government is after it too. Last year, Apple admitted to issuing a fix in iOS 10.2.1 that reduced the occurrence of iPhone 6 and 6S models unexpectedly shutting down, although that software update didn't explicitly detail the company's slowdown methods.

To be fair, Apple did release this feature publicly past year, announcing that they saw an 80 percent reduction in unexpected shutdowns by releasing a power management fix in iOS 10.2.1.

As Apple works to win back customer trust, the company is expected to take a financial hit.
