Sen. Lindsey Graham: Trump Won't Fire Mueller

Trump may face FBI interview

The special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly aware of Trump's actions as he looks into whether the president has obstructed the inquiry into Russian attempts to sway the election in his favour.

The discussions have involved, for example, whether the interview can be written questioning as opposed to in-person questioning.

In an excerpt from the explosive new book "Fire and Fury" by Michael Wolff, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is quoted as saying that there was "zero" chance that Trump was unaware of the meeting.

While this stage in the process is early and preliminary, discussions have begun and both sides have laid out their initial points of view.

US President Donald Trump asserted on Saturday that everything he has done is 100 per cent "proper" and there has been no collusion between between him and Russian Federation in the 2016 presidential elections.

When asked by a reporter if he would meet with Mueller if requested, Trump responded, "yeah", but then immediately deflected to say there was "no collusion" between his campaign and Moscow in its alleged efforts to influence last year's election.

"Everyone tells me I'm not under investigation".

"There was no collusion between us and the Russians", he said.

In stepping aside from the probe on March 2, Sessions said it was not appropriate for him to oversee any investigation into a campaign of which he was an active supporter, though the recusal also followed the revelation that he had had two previously undisclosed interactions during the 2016 campaign with the Russian ambassador to the United States. "But the only collusion is between Hillary and the Russians and the DNC", he said.

In August, Trump Jr. released a chain of emails that showed he had agreed to the meeting not to talk about adoptions, but because the music promoter, Rob Goldstone, had assured him that the Russian lawyer had "official documents and information" that would "incriminate" Clinton, "and be very useful to your father". "Maybe Hillary is, I don't know, but I'm not", he said.

A number of news outlets, including The Associated Press, have reported that Trump directed his White House counsel to tell Attorney General Jeff Sessions not to withdraw from the Justice Department's investigation into potential ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign. Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, and an associate have pleaded not guilty ao all charges against them.

"Even if you thought that this (meeting) was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad. and I happen to think it's all of that, you should have called the Federal Bureau of Investigation immediately", Bannon said, according to "Fire and Fury", which was released Friday.

Ivanka didn't attend the 30 minute meeting in June with Russian lawyers, so she's been largely left out of the investigation until now.

The president also again said Mexico would pay for the wall in some form, something that the Mexican government has strongly rejected.

The network said Trump Jr. told the committee he had instead coordinated the statement with Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, who was on Air Force One when it was drafted, quoting multiple people familiar with his testimony.

Beyond freakish. This is not a question of Mueller being thorough.
