Will Saudi's crown prince be TIME's Person of the Year?

The crown Prince of Saudi Arabia this year took control of the fight against corruption in the country, which was delayed many officials and other influential people, among them 11 members of the Royal family.

Dozens of high-profile figures including princes, ministers and tycoons are being held in Riyadh's Ritz-Carlton hotel, now a makeshift luxury prison, in the biggest sweep of the kingdom's elite in its recent history.

"The necessary arrangements are being finalised to conclude such agreements", Mojeb said in a statement.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the unprecedented purge a month ago, arresting high-level princes, businessmen, officials and military officers. Those detained included the former head of the royal court Khaled Al-Tuwaijri, and Saudi media mogul Waleed Al-Ibrahim.

A statement said that 320 people have been called in for questioning while 159 are now being detained.

Numerous detainees are being held at Riyadh's 5-star Ritz Carlton, which has been out of bounds to other guests since the crackdown started.

Sheikh Al Mujib said the Saudi central bank has frozen the personal accounts of 376 people linked to the investigation "as a precautionary measure".

It was reported in late November that Prince Mutaib has been released.

The source clarified, "The Committee has followed internationally applied procedures by negotiating with the detainees and offering them a settlement that will facilitate recouping the State's funds and assets, and eliminate the need for a prolonged litigation".
